Cancer treatments and risk reduction can take so much from us.
Wendy Strgar, CEO and Founder of intimacy brand Good Clean Love, says that our sex lives shouldn’t be one of them. Instead, she invites Breasties to rethink our relationships with pleasure and intimacy.
Wendy joined Breastie co-founders Allie Brumel and Bri Majsiak during an Instagram Live to talk all things sexual health after cancer, including Wendy’s motivation for kickstarting the brand, tips for redefining intimacy without penetration, and why it’s important to look for products designed to support your vaginal microbiome to keep feeling your best.
Peak Partnered: This article is in proud partnership with Good Clean Love, whose mission is to increase the awareness and experience of love in the world by providing safe, natural, and organic intimacy products.
THE PEAK (TP): What inspired you to create Good Clean Love?
Wendy Strgar (WS): I was the mother of four children, and it was after the fourth one that really nothing worked sexually anymore. I was extremely, highly motivated myself to come back to a sex life after four live births, and every product the doctor would give me would make me run to take a bath for two hours after I used it.
I didn’t really understand the science or the chemistry of a lot of the personal lubricants on the market. When I first got a glimpse, and I looked up the primary ingredient—propylene glycol—and I read that it was the same ingredient in brake fluid and antifreeze, I just thought, “No, that can’t be true.”
For a long time, I was afraid to say [that sex wasn’t working for me]. I thought, “Oh, this must just be me. This must be something wrong with me,” which is what a lot of women think and feel when people make a suggestion about their healing, and it doesn’t work for them.
Slowly over time, I learned how the women’s health field and industry really had not progressed in the 60 years I’ve been alive, and that largely, people are still making products with ingredients that really have no business at all being near vaginal tissue.
And so that’s how it all started: Necessity being the mother of invention.

TP: How can Breasties start to reconnect with their sex lives after cancer or surgery?
WS: One thing is that we all have a lot to learn about having sex—especially when your intimate life is interrupted by a disease that really takes so much life out of you—is that when you come back to intimacy, you can’t expect to come back to it like before.
You are a new you in every way, and loving that new you means giving yourself permission to think about intimacy in new ways.
For a lot of couples who stop having sex—not only people who’ve had cancer treatment, but the population at large that have sexual issues—one of the most beautiful exercises is the idea of learning to feel.
When you go through any kind of trauma, [you have to revisit] the idea of what it feels like to be touched. You’re not entering the bedroom with this idea that there’s intercourse or some kind of penetration happening. Can you let somebody touch you?
Maybe you have a few cue words, like harder or softer. You give these cues of what feels good, what kind of touch feels good, wherever it is: on your neck, on your back, on your chest.
Maybe it’s just somebody holding this place where your breast injury was. Can you settle and get soft in that intimacy of being touched? That’s literally how it begins.
The idea that you’re gonna just come back to the routine you used to do and have at it—it’s not like that. It’s not like that in life generally, but for sure after a trauma [that’s broken your] trust, right?
What gets most injured in trauma is our ability to trust ourselves. It’s our ability to trust that this person is really showing up for us and sees us in the way that we see ourselves, or even in a more loving way.
Our relationships are the most gentle teacher. It’s an exercise in learning to feel again.

TP: Good Clean Love places a lot of emphasis on vaginal microbiome health. How can Breasties who may have undergone treatments that impact their microbiome try to counteract that?
WS: Your microbiome is gonna be more compromised because of the cancer treatments that you underwent and have to maintain [like aromatase inhibitors].
The products that I trust and use every day and that I design for cancer patients [are designed like a] face regime, like how you cleanse, you moisturize, you use your ointments, whatever it is. We created the kit with a wash, a vaginal gel with hyaluronic acid, which is really moisturizing, and the relief serum.
All of our products are made with our patented Bio-Match® technology that I developed with leading doctors and scientists. Essentially, Bio-Match® mirrors the vaginal environment’s natural chemistry by balancing osmolality [the measure of how closely a product matches your body’s natural moisture], maintaining healthy pH levels, and nourishing a healthy bacterial microbiome.
This is important to note because the products don’t cause more harm, they don’t strip the vaginal epithelium, which is a protective layer on your skin. And they also help give you the exact kind of bacteria that you need.
That’s why we made our Reset Vaginal Probiotic Suppository that introduces the healthiest native lactobacilli. Then the Balance Wash and the Restore or Rehydrate Moisturizing Gel have a specific kind of lactic acid that feeds this diverse range of lactobacilli.
Those products, so long as you keep them going, will keep your microbiome steady and regulated.
TP: As a pioneer in women’s vaginal health and creating solutions for the vaginal microbiome, what excites you for the future? What’s next for you and the team?
After years of listening to your health journeys and challenges, I’ve come to understand that many of you need more than just products. You need real answers and clinical solutions. That’s why I’m excited to announce the launch of Good Clean Clinical Care, coming Spring 2026.
What makes Good Clean Clinical Care most unique is our prescription base, which is rooted in our patented Bio-Match® technology and is specifically designed to match your body’s natural pH, reduce tissue stress, support barrier integrity, and offer better tolerance—even for the most sensitive tissue.
In addition to prescriptions, Good Clean Clinical Care will also offer a 55-target advanced vaginal microbiome testing panel that reveals what standard tests miss and telemedicine visits with physicians specializing in vaginal health.
